‘KIKI’
Opinan Baubo by Irton
DoB 9/1/88
(Ch Dandyhow April Fool ex Ir Ch Astra of Opinan)
Kiki joined us early in 1988 and immediately fitted in with the Irton's. Each of the Irton's brings some new talent or vice (depending on your viewpoint) to the kennel and Kiki was no exception, her speciality was food! She was unshowable during the later parts of the summer due to being permanently bloated on little green apples falling from the trees, she perfected the art of pulling the elder branches down to pick the fruit, she was once found inside a sack of food attempting to eat her way out – a pity since she was supposed to be showing the next day. She was also successful in passing these talents on her son being the first Irton to devour in its entirety a winter Broccoli plant whilst her grandson has the distinction of being the first Irton to finally crack the difficult problem of picking Gooseberries from the rather prickly bushes! She also proved an exceptional show girl and recorded more BIS/BB wins at Breed club shows than any other Irton before or since. These include wins at the Border Terrier Club, the Scottish Club, the Yorks, Lancs and Cheshire club and many more. She completed her Junior warrant and at championship level she quickly gained her stud book number. But despite these many wins the big one eluded her and she had to be content with a reserve CC. "Limit B (9): 1 Fryer's Opinan Baubo By Irton, has matured to a nice bitch, good head & outline, moved with drive, never stopped showing. Res CC".
However she was to prove a very successful and influential brood bitch. Her first litter was to Ch Blue Doctor and this produced Irton Cormac, he himself was a multiple reserve CC winner and sired both CC and reserve CC winning bitches. Her second litter was to Ch Ashbrae McNally, this mating proved very successful and was repeated to give Ch Irton First Footer and Ch Irton Hogmanay at Ashbrae (both of whom have gone on to produce champions ) and the CC winners Irton Ransom at Hollybridge and Irton Reveller at Ashbrae (both of whom have gone on to produce CC winners). She was retired after her third litter and spent a well earned retirement as a companion dog. She was a lovely bitch with a great sense of humour and has left her mark on the kennel.
