Irton Border Terriers is a well established kennel, breeding occasionally (usually one litter a year) and showing at Kennel Club shows throughout the UK.
The human element is husband and wife team Dave and Trak Fryer. Our interest in Border Terriers started as an extension of our love of walking in the Hills, but has led over the past 20 years to a deep involvement with the breed.
Trak is currently Chairman of the Northern Border Terrier club, and also writes the Breed Notes each week in the national newspaper ‘Dog World’. She is an established Championship Show judge, and last year officiated at the Yorks, Lancs and Cheshire BT Club’s show in October.
Dave is also on the committee of the Northern Club, and has judged at several Breed Club Open shows, and last year had his first championship show appointment, at Darlington in September.
As well as our interest in dogs, we are both keen fellwalkers, mostly in the English Lake District, but also in other UK mountain areas and we also spend a couple of weeks each year in the Pyrenees. Dave has been an active member of the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team for over 30 years.
We are also both keen gardeners, and spend a lot of our time working on our half-acre cottage garden here at Irton, on the western edge of the Lake District.
We have both recently retired from paid employment to let us get on with the important things in life.
